post-title

Elastic announced Alpha Release for .NET OpenTelemetry SDK. It will provide support in instrumenting .NET applications. In .NET, the runtime base class libraries (BCL) include types designed for native OpenTelemetry instrumentation, such as Activity and Meter and it is making OpenTelemetry easy to get adopted in .NET applications.

OpenTelemetry is a vendor-neutral observability framework that supports telemetry signals such as traces, metrics, and logs in applications. Applications use OpenTelemetry framework to send the signals to the Elastic APM. Since it is a vendor neutral framework, applications can easily change their backend. This is making life easier for both Applications (producers) and Application Performance Monitoring (consumers).

Elastic .NET OpenTelemetry SDK can be downloaded from NuGet package. Its source code is available in Github and it is licensed under Apache license.
